The second technique is a famous figure endorsing the product, I would say it is a beautiful people technique, but Casper is a cartoon ghost. However, the concept is the same.

Week 5: Movies or Recordings

Blog 4 Mazageen

I purpose a magazine titled: smART. That magazine would be centered around Art forms from all over the world, from painting to music, to films, tattoos and dance. The audience or demographic would be between the ages of 15 to 35, both male and female, all ethnicity, from the working poor to the relaxed rich, with the common art interest mind, people with confidant self images. Other magazines that are in this field are Bak, Skin art, Hi frutose, and Art scene. However, mine would be broader and of more interest to the reader as they would be able to find all the stuff in those magazines in one compressed and impressive print media. Five advertisers who would reach my readers are: Micheal's craft store, Stairway tattoo's and piercings, AMC theaters, Preforming arts center, and deviantART. Five articles I would include in premier are: Tattoos expos around the world, hit indie movie in LA, relived Leonardo da Vinci appreciation, a look at the techno and dubstep breakout across the world, and photographs of animals around the world. The cover of the magazine would be a man looking in the mirror, you can see the back of his head but the reflection in the mirror is a jump out of color and miscellaneous things that he see's that are related to the articles in the magazine. I would use bold black word to be easily read on top of the colorful background photo. smART would be written in a specific font to attract people.

Blog 3 books for me :)

The first book that pops to my young mind is  The phantom tollbooth by Julius Feiffer I read it in 6th grade. It inspired me to love to learn, to never be bored (because only boring people get bored!) and to find the wit in every situtatin.

The second book that has influenced me is MindLight: Secrets,Energy,Magick,Manifestation, very early in life I found that I was quite socially awkward, and took stress in with out letting it out. This book taught me that meditating can and should be quite a regular thing, that there is wonder in everything and that what you put in will be what you get out :) I consider this book similar to a bible.

The third book I can think that influenced me is Luna it was the first book i read that dealt with gender roles and the idea that people are not all born with the same desires and needs for attention. I also liked that it was funny how luna's little sister dealt with her brother becoming a sister.

Media Experiment

For a media research project, I would advice a project aimed at children between the ages 7 to 14 and their change in behavior (if any) to different shows between the hours 4 to 9.  For example, do kids who watch shows with educational components more likely to get there homework done than students who watch shows with little to no intelligent value? I would use the Social Learning Theory to see if the behaviors in the shows where the content is filled with positive outlook toward learning could be modeled by the children who view it. My hypothesis could be tested by surveys on what kids watch. Than to review the completion of homework they do. I predict that children that watch shows without educational value are more influenced by educational distractions and thus would have lower levels of completion than that of the children who watch cartoons and media filled with learning materials. This could be a more cultural study than a solid study but links and connections would be clear.

Week 1: Media Autobiography

My name is Julie :) I started my love for reading in 3rd grade I believe, when I read Junie B. Jones, I loved her short attitude. However, my interested soon swirled toward Animorphs and goose bumbs. I  also read silly grandma books like American Girl, and other miscellaneous detective novels. Then something magical happened, in 4th grade someone introduced Harry Potter to me, needless to say, I am still an avid fan and have read all the books at least once a year since than. Mostly, I am in to science fiction, but I can defiantly enjoy all genres of books especially if they are informational tid bits about sea creatures. I  love to read. It  was the most important medium to me while growing up.
As for newspapers, I only ever read those when I am super bored and there is one in my possession.  I do not have a subscription to one so that chance is few and far between.
I have read my fair share of magazines and still do. I use photography magazines to make collages of things I like. Along with that I admit to liking to read about celebrity lifestyles and Lindsey Lohan going in and out of rehab, Britney spear's hair melt downs, and other useless things that for some unknown reason I do like.  Let it be noted that I don't understand why I like it, and overall I think public displays of these things running around do send some negative messages to our impressionable youth. 
I love to watch Funny movies :) Pineapple express. hahhahah. I like that a good movies can really improve a good mood.
I actually am not really a music, recordings, or radio person in my free time, some times I do like to listen to the radio in my car but mostly I get enough of sound at work listening to music all day or going to events where music is the vocal point of entertainment.
Television and the internet are my most often used sources of mediums, I watch the news and read the news through these sources, I also use facebook as a messaging tool.Today, these are probably the most important mediums to me.
I want to be in  Phlebotomy so it doesn't really have to do with Media, and so far I do not know which school I plan to transfer to.
